Advocacy Partners

There’s a lot of movement both at the state and local regulatory levels. HSGG is committed to being involved and being a voice for our farmers, but we can’t do it alone. HSGG is a proud member of Humboldt County Growers Alliance (HCGA) and California Growers Association (CGA) and would like to see as many of our farmers support these advocacy groups as well. Some of the benefits of joining these organizations include:

• Access to vital up-to-date policy information

• The ability to collaborate on specific local issues and provide input based on your individual needs

• Networking opportunities at quarterly and annual events

Pesticides that connot be used on Cannabis in the State of California

The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) enforces laws that govern the sale and use of pesticides in California, including use on cannabis. The Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA) requires DPR to develop guidelines for the use of pesticides in the cultivation of cannabis, provide guidelines on pesticide residue for the Bureau of Cannabis Control, and require that the application of pesticides in connection with the cultivation of cannabis complies with Division 6 of the FAC.

California Cannabis Track-and-Trace System

California has selected Metrc as the state’s track-and-trace system used to track commercial cannabis activity and movement across the distribution chain ("seed-to-sale"). This site is intended to give annual licensees information that will help them use Metrc to remain in compliance with California’s tracking and reporting requirements. More information will be added to this page during California’s transition to Metrc and on an on-going basis as needed.

For information on California’s programs – including regulatory requirements – visit the following websites:

  • Bureau of Cannabis Control - a bureau within the California Department of Consumer Affairs, BCC is responsible for licensing retailers, distributors, testing laboratories and microbusinesses.

  • CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing - a division within the California Department of Food & Agriculture, CalCannabis is responsible for licensing cultivators (including nurseries and processors) and implementing the state's Track-and-Trace system to record movement of cannabis from seed to sale.

  • Manufactured Cannabis Safety Branch - a branch within the California Department of Public Health, MCSB is responsible for licensing manufacturers of cannabis products. This includes nearly all non-flower products (edibles, concentrate, tinctures, etc.)

A Sample Sales Invoice/Shipping Manifest

Here is a sample sales invoice/shipping manifest that temporary licensees may use to document transfers of cannabis and cannabis products.
